Google Chat integration

Connect once and choose where to save Chat messages. Team defaults and public notifications are optional.

Connect your account once, then choose a destination when saving. No prepared page or copied connection code is required. A Chat space is a Google Chat conversation; an ESTnote Space organizes documents.

You can also watch how it works in the ESTnote × Google Chat videos (Korean narration).

In a space and in the app's direct message

You meet the ESTnote app in two places. In a team Chat space it answers only what you ask, briefly and, where possible, in a dialog only you see; it does not post confirmations that a connection or a save finished. In your direct message with the ESTnote app (the 1:1 conversation opened by selecting ESTnote in the Chat sidebar’s Apps section or Chat search) you receive the connection, save and settings confirmations and any delivery failure. Team defaults, the guide and sharing to a space work only in a space.

Connect your account

  1. Open ESTnote in Google Chat or add it to the intended Chat space.
  2. Choose Connect ESTnote (ESTnote 연결) or /estnote-connect.
  3. Open the private link. If sign-in is needed, use the same Google account used in Chat. An existing valid session for that account is reused.
  4. Confirm Connect ESTnote. If you started by saving a message, that action resumes.

When the connection is complete, a confirmation arrives in your direct message with the ESTnote app. Without that direct message, a confirmation only you can see appears once in the space where you started. An already connected account that sends /estnote-connect is told so instead of receiving another link.

Ordinary sign-in requests identity and access to the Drive files ESTnote uses. Chat message, space-management and Calendar permissions are requested when connecting the corresponding capability in Google tools.

No page or task database is needed. Links expire after ten minutes and cannot be completed by a different user if forwarded.

Save a message

  1. In a Chat message’s app actions, choose ESTnote 새 페이지로 저장, ESTnote 업무로 만들기, or ESTnote 페이지에 추가 (new page, task, or append).
  2. Choose Save to ESTnote on the private card to open the save screen.
  3. Review the ESTnote Space and save mode. You can change the mode chosen in the menu.
  4. Review the destination, title and content, then choose the corresponding create or append button.
Save modeDestination
New page (새 페이지 만들기)Your personal pages in the chosen Space, or under an editable page. No existing page is required.
Append to page (기존 페이지에 추가)Choose a recent editable page or search.
Create task (업무 만들기)Choose an editable database and configure only the status, assignee and due fields you need.

A recent personal destination or accessible team default is suggested when available. When first choosing among multiple Spaces, select one explicitly. Nothing is written before you press Save. Search destinations and use More (더 보기) for additional results.

Only the selected message and its source reference are saved, not attachments or the whole conversation. The saved text follows the destination's audience: anyone who can read a shared destination can read its saved content.

The result is private. Choose Open in ESTnote (ESTnote에서 열기) or, separately, Share to this Chat space (이 Chat 스페이스에 공유). A saved card also arrives as a new message in your direct message with the ESTnote app, with the same open and share links. Nothing is posted in the space.

Optional team defaults

Personal saving does not require team configuration. If your team repeatedly uses the same destination, open This space's settings (이 스페이스 설정) in Chat. /estnote-guide offers setup when no defaults exist, or asks before posting a guide when they do.

  • An ESTnote Space owner or administrator configures defaults. Other members can still save personally.
  • Select a default page, a task database, or both. Editing and sharing capabilities are required on those destinations.
  • Enter a name in Create a new page under the selected default page to create a child. Its audience follows the selected parent.
  • Compatible status, person and date properties are suggested; names such as Due are preferred when several date properties exist. Unmapped properties expand the settings for review. Choose explicitly when ambiguous. Without a configured completed status, Complete is disabled with a setup hint.
  • Reopen settings to change defaults without disconnecting. Changes apply to future saves; existing shared-item notifications are preserved.

Public sharing and notifications

Saving and publishing are separate. After saving, confirm the audience under Share to this Chat space before posting. Automatic notifications are off by default; select status, assignee, due or comment changes separately.

From an ESTnote page, ⋯ → Share to Google Chat (Google Chat으로 공유) provides a sorted destination selector. Select a destination, optional change notifications and disclosure consent, then use the button bearing the destination’s name. A queued confirmation names the destination and links to Chat; disclosure resets after submission. ESTnote app DM (only me) identifies your private conversation with the app. If none appear, invoke the ESTnote app's connect or save action inside the intended Chat space first.

Only explicitly shared items with selected notifications generate automatic alerts. Database entries use task cards regardless of the sharing path. Cards offer Open in ESTnote, Edit task, Complete, Comment and Refresh, subject to permissions and configuration. Successful edit/comment submission closes the dialog and refreshes the card separately. Task edits use a date picker. Saving with the date left as it is keeps the due date unchanged; picking another day moves it there with its time, end date and time zone kept. All actions retain ESTnote permissions. Ordinary Chat replies are not imported automatically.

Commands

CommandAction
/estnote-connectConnect your account, or hear that it is already connected
/estnote-noteChoose a destination and create a page. Text typed after the command fills the title and content
/estnote-taskChoose a database and create a task
/estnote-requestRegister a request in a database
/estnote-searchSearch ESTnote pages you can read
/estnote-mineFind your assigned tasks in a chosen database
/estnote-guideOffer setup or confirm posting a guide for existing defaults (spaces only)

Type / and select a command from the suggestion list. Typing its name and pressing Enter can select another suggestion or send the text as an ordinary message.

Search and assigned-task results are private and show up to ten items. /estnote-request does not submit an ESTnote Bug report / Suggestion. Tasks are ESTnote database entries, not synchronized Google Tasks or native Chat tasks.

Troubleshooting and disconnecting

  • Server setup required: Ask your administrator to finish Chat server configuration. Reinstalling the app is insufficient.
  • Wrong account: Use Switch to the Google account used in Chat on the continuation screen.
  • Expired or cancelled link: Restart the action in Chat. If already saved, inspect the original page before creating another copy.
  • Missing or inaccessible destination: Choose another editable location or request access from its owner. Chat membership does not grant ESTnote permissions.
  • Cannot change team defaults: Ask an ESTnote Space owner or administrator. Personal saving remains available without defaults.
  • Disconnect my account: Open Account settings → Connected services → Google Chat → Disconnect my account (내 계정 연결 해제). A confirmation asks first. Your actions and notifications you authorized stop; other users' personal saves remain available. Scheduled notices missed while disconnected are not sent after you reconnect.
  • Disconnect a team: An administrator can use Work and automation tools → Default save destination settings → Disconnect team, which asks for confirmation, or remove the app from the Chat space. Previously posted Chat messages remain.

Approvals, announcements and automation

From a page, choose ⋯ → Share to Google Chat (Google Chat으로 공유) → Work and automation tools (업무·자동화 도구). Select a Chat space connected to the same ESTnote Space. The current page is the document used by these tools.

  • Approval, announcement and request: choose recipients and confirm public disclosure before publishing. Recipients need existing page access and a connected Chat account; members who cannot read the page are listed but cannot be selected. Approve or reject documents, acknowledge announcements, and assign, start, complete or reopen requests, which can also be done with the same buttons on the request's Chat card. Republishing changed content posts a new card in the same thread and starts a new response cycle; the earlier card stays as replaced, without buttons, and earlier actions remain in history. A stale card asks you to refresh.
  • Scheduled reminders and reports: choose daily or weekly delivery, time and time zone. Reports use the team's task database; due reminders also require a mapped due-date property. Check delivery errors and remove your own schedules in this panel, even when the target page is in the trash. A run that was due while your account was disconnected, or while you could not open the document, is skipped and the reason is shown. A run delayed by server maintenance is sent only within an hour of its time.
  • Team check-ins: enter one question per line. Choose respondents who can read the current page. Members answer using the Chat card; the schedule owner can view submitted responses in ESTnote.

Publishing to Chat does not grant document access. Titles and the information you explicitly publish are visible to the Chat space's members. Account disconnection or lost permissions can stop delivery.

Additional Google permissions

The Google tools (Google 도구) tab requests Google authorization separately for each capability. Cancelling authorization keeps you signed in to ESTnote. If Google revokes authorization, reconnect the affected capability.

ToolWhat happens
Save a threadLoad an accessible thread, select individual messages, and append them to the current editable page. Other messages are not imported.
Create a projectCreate a child page and a Google Chat space, then invite the Google accounts you specify. Chat membership and ESTnote permissions remain separate. Partial failures are shown for retry.
Create a meetingCreate a Calendar event with a Meet link and invite the specified attendees. Review the time zone before sending invitations. Reopen an existing meeting to change or cancel it, or add a follow-up task to the team database. The meeting list is read again from Calendar each time this section is opened, so a meeting moved in Calendar shows its new time and a cancelled one leaves the list.
Save an attachmentChoose an accessible Chat attachment and explicitly copy it to the current page. Page readers can access the copy.
Save a Drive linkSave a reference to the original file. Drive permissions are unchanged.

Google organization policies may require administrator approval. These tools become available only after server configuration and the required Google consent.

Automatic welcomes for newly joined members are not provided. The connection guide shown when the ESTnote app is added to a Chat space remains available; use /estnote-guide to explicitly post a team guide.
