Installing the mobile app

Install the ESTnote mobile apps, now in open beta, through the Google Play open test and TestFlight, or install the web app on a computer to open it in its own window.

On phones and tablets, install the Android app or the iPhone and iPad app below. Signed in to the app, you also get your Inbox notifications as phone push notifications. Installation is optional; you can keep using ESTnote in a browser. An internet connection is required.

  • In a phone's browser, this page shows Install the ESTnote beta above. On Android it opens Google Play's beta test page; on iPhone and iPad, the TestFlight beta page.
  • On a computer, press Email me the install links above. The Android and iPhone install links go to the address you signed in with. Open that mail on your phone and tap the link for your device.

Android beta app (Google Play open test)

The app runs on Android 8.0 or later. It is offered as an open test on Google Play, available from the Play Store in South Korea and the United States.

  1. Open the ESTnote beta test link, sign in with the same Google account as the Play Store on your phone, and join as a tester. You can join from a computer too.
  2. On your Android phone, open ESTnote on Google Play, or search for ESTnote in the Play Store, and tap Install.
  3. Open the app and sign in with the Google account you use on the web.

The Play Store marks the app as a test version. New beta versions update through the Play Store like any other app. To stop testing, leave the test from the same link. See Google Play's instructions.

iPhone and iPad beta app (TestFlight)

The app runs on iOS and iPadOS 17 or later (on iPhone, the XS and XR and later models); on an older device, use the browser or add ESTnote to the Home Screen. It is offered through TestFlight, Apple's app for beta testing.

  1. Install TestFlight from the App Store.
  2. On the same iPhone or iPad, open the ESTnote beta link.
  3. In TestFlight, tap Accept, then Install. If you installed it before, you see Update or Open instead.
  4. Open ESTnote from your home screen and sign in with the Google account you use on the web.

New beta builds are updated from TestFlight; with TestFlight's automatic updates on, they install on their own. Each build stops opening 90 days after it was uploaded, so update to the latest build in TestFlight before then. To stop testing, open ESTnote's information page in TestFlight and tap Stop Testing. See Apple's TestFlight instructions.

Chrome on a computer

  1. Open ESTnote in Chrome.
  2. Click the Install icon in the address bar, or open the browser menu and choose Cast, save and share → Install page as app.
  3. Confirm installation, then open ESTnote from your apps.

If this help page does not offer installation, open ESTnote and use the browser's install control there. Menu names can vary by browser version. See Chrome's official instructions.

Installing the web app on a phone

If you cannot install the native app, you can put the web app on your home screen. The web app gets no phone push notifications; check your Inbox instead.

  • Android: Open ESTnote in Chrome and open the browser menu. Choose Install app or Add to Home screen, then follow the prompts.
  • iPhone and iPad: Open ESTnote in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. If Open as Web App is shown, enable it and tap Add. See Apple's instructions.
  • If you are not signed in, a Sign in link appears under the button. Signing in brings you back to this page; press the button once more.
  • The mail usually arrives within a minute. If it is not in your inbox, check your spam folder.
  • Install links can be mailed three times an hour.
  • Without the mail, open the links in the Android and iPhone instructions above directly on your phone.
