Import and export
How to move Notion, Confluence, Markdown and CSV material into ESTnote, and export a page or a whole Space as a file.
Importing
Open Space name → Space settings → Import and export (가져오기·내보내기) at the top of the sidebar and press Import content (자료 가져오기). Guests cannot import.
| What you can import | What it becomes |
|---|---|
| Notion export (Markdown & CSV zip) | Page hierarchy, bodies, databases, attachments and links between pages |
| Confluence export (HTML zip) | Page hierarchy, bodies and attachments |
| Markdown (.md or .zip) · HTML | Pages |
| CSV | A database |
| ESTnote structure-preserving export | Everything down to property types, options, relations and body blocks |
| Choose from Google Drive | A Google Doc becomes a page; a Google Sheet's first sheet becomes a database |
- Drop a file or pick one with Select file. For Drive documents, press Choose from Google Drive.
- The Import plan shows how many pages, databases and attachments will be made. For a database, look at each column's sample values and pick a property type, or Values only or Exclude.
- Press Run import.
- Check what could not come across in the result. If items remain, press Retry remaining items.
Imported pages appear in Private documents. Go straight to them with Imported top-level pages → Open, check them, then move them into a teamspace. If you do not like the result, Undo moves the imported pages to the trash in one go. Import history shows earlier imports again.
Moving from Notion
- Export from Notion as Markdown & CSV. Turn on All databases, Include subpages and Create folders for subpages.
- The whole workspace: workspace name at the top left → Settings → Export all workspace content. A download link arrives by email.
- One page and its subpages: ⋯ → Export at the page's top right.
- Upload the zip as it is, without unzipping. If it came in several Part zips, upload them as they are too.
What comes across as it is, and what changes
- Paragraphs, headings, lists, quotes, tables, formulas, code, callouts, toggles and text formatting become the same blocks. From an HTML export, a callout's colour comes across too.
- Images and attached files become page attachments, and links to other pages become mentions of those pages.
- Properties keep their kind, and relations are linked when the related entry's title matches.
- Formulas and rollups come across as their calculated values, and person and file properties as their names, in text.
- Times in dates are dropped and only the date comes across, because the export has no time zone.
- Comments, edit history and permissions are not in the export and do not come across.
- Attachments over 10 MiB, embeds and synced blocks are skipped or left as links, and the result reports them.
To move just a few pages, you can also copy blocks in Notion and paste them. Callouts arrive whole, with their icon, colour and the blocks inside. Attachments, subpages and databases do not come along.
Exporting a page
Open Export (내보내기) in the page menu (⋯).
| Setting | Choices |
|---|---|
| Destination | Download to this device or your Google Drive |
| Format | Markdown, HTML (one document, print to PDF), Structure-preserving archive (reimportable). When sending to Drive you can also pick Google Docs document. |
| Export scope | This page only or This page and subpages |
| Save method | When sending to Drive, update a file you exported before or Create new copy |
- When Download (내려받기) finishes, the window closes and a notice at the bottom names the downloaded file and its page count.
- Markdown becomes a compressed file when there are attachments or subpages.
- For a PDF, choose HTML, press Save as PDF (print), and pick Save as PDF in the print dialog.
- The structure-preserving archive keeps property types, options, relations and body blocks, and goes back in through Import content.
- When the archive is imported again, person and file properties, rollups, and relations to a database that was not exported with it come across as the names, titles and values they showed, in text.
- A database exported with This page only keeps its rows and their property values. To include the rows' bodies too, pick This page and subpages.
- Copies saved to Drive stay apart from the page. See Google Drive integration.
Exporting a whole Space
Under Space settings → Import and export → Export entire Space, pick a format and press Download. Every top-level page you can see, with its subpages, downloads as one file. With the structure-preserving archive, it can be imported as it is into another Space.
